With many retailers either downsizing or closing their doors, its no wonder people are turning to the online world and away from the traditional brick and mortar locations. With the recent takeover of Whole Foods by Amazon (should we call it Amazon Foods?) its hard to gauge whats the next step by the online giant. One thing is for sure, the time to find your way into Amazon is now. Whether your a vendor, seller, buyer or stock holder, the quest by Amazon to take over the entire retail market is not only smoke and mirrors but a new reality we are first learning to understand.
So what about the other online retailers? Where do they stand? Well lets take the number two online giant eBay. In terms of exposure and longevity, no one can dispute its long legacy and popularity especially with newbies to the online selling scene. But, eBay lacks the better spending audience that Amazon continues to attract. Additionally, eBay does not offer such great options as Prime shipping and warehousing. My bet is Walmart will start to take a surge and try to fight Amazon for a share in the growing marketplace. Who knows what Amazon has in store for Walmart, a KMart Takeover?
